Locum or per diem hires through DirectShifts are paid every week. Direct hires are paid by their new employer.
How much does it cost to use DirectShifts?
Nothing! It’s a free platform.
Does DirectShifts provide malpractice insurance?
We provide best-in-class malpractice insurance with full tail coverage, if not provided by your new employer. When it comes to malpractice insurance, we take it very seriously to give you peace of mind!
If you're a 1099 employee, taxes can get complicated. Our founding physicians have done it before and understand the pitfalls. That's why we provide an accountant and accurate documents for locum tenens or per diem shift workers.
Does DirectShifts reimburse travel expenses?
We reimburse all travel expenses (including flight and hotel) for travel roles. A personal concierge will be available to manage your travel arrangements during your assignment.

Can I turn my temp or locums hires to permanent roles?
We don't like lockout periods. In fact, we strive to match you with clinicians you'll want to work with permanently. If you like a DirectShifts temporary clinician and want to bring them on staff, we'll help you make that happen for a low buyout fee.
What kind of jobs can I post on DirectShifts?

Do I need to download any software to use DirectShifts?
No software needed! DirectShifts is an online platform that you can use on your browser or mobile phone, like Google Docs. Users who prefer apps can download our Android/iOS apps, but the experience is the same on mobile web or app.
Do you do more than locum tenens?
DirectShifts is a comprehensive recruiting platform for clinicians and employers alike. Our team easily facilitates all types of hires, not just locums. We do have the full suite of skills needed for locum tenens placement. DirectShifts can handle interstate licensing, timesheets, credentialing, legal work, and malpractice insurance for you.
Am I allowed to interact directly with clinicians?
Yes - we believe it's important to search, source and interact with clinicians without interference. You can text, email, or call clinicians directly from our platform without waiting for the DirectShifts team. Simply filter our database for jobseekers based on preferred contract type, licenses, and more. Our AI matching tool can also find the top matches for you automatically. We believe in pay transparency and will not interfere with employment negotiations unless you request our assistance.
